Mission-Driven Bioethics in New York State

Founded in 2020, in response to the Covid pandemic, the Empire State Bioethics Consortium is a not-for-profit membership organization of scholars, researchers, and practitioners dedicated to addressing ethical issues and inequities in health and healthcare across New York state.



New York's Medical Aid in Dying Act

In this video, prepared for ESBC, health law attorneys  with experience in bioethics summarize the provisions of New York's 2025 Medical Aid in Dying Act (as amended), and offer comments about the  law.

This is the full text of New York's Medical Aid in Dying Act, NY Public Health Law Article 28-F.  

It became effective August 5, 2026.
